I honestly recommend you don’t eat a thing before coming on this tour. There is SO MUCH delicious street food - you want to enjoy it as much as possible! I was kind of surprised there wasn’t all that much German food haha, but it was cool to eat such a variety. And I understand our guide Marie’s point. All the different cultures moving into Berlin changed the way Germans ate. I actually really like the story. Besides, it’s good food! Who doesn’t love a doner kebab?? All in all, I really recommend this tour.
We had eaten our fair share of schnitzels, sausages, and had tons of beer in Germany. However, this food tour was a much more enjoyable experience. Our guide Choncha didn’t just shove dishes at us, she made an effort to teach us Berlin’s history. Both food-wise and in general. She talked about the Kaffee und Kuchen culture, also touched on the Berlin Wall, the Cold War, etc. Was a nice overview without going into the nitty-gritty history. The food and drink were obviously delicious. I especially loved the pastries at the end, perfect with a nice espresso. My verdict on the tour: highly recommend.

TRY FOOD FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD
Berlin is a melting pot of cultures from multiple countries. So, unlike standard food tours, you’ll eat a wide variety of foods. For example, you’ll bite into the famous Turkish doner kebab. This delicious sandwich is filled with juicy meat mixed with toppings you choose. There'll also be tasty Mexican tacos, available in both spicy and non-spicy versions. You can choose your own meat and vegetables in a delicious wheat- or corn-based tortilla. Another stop will be a vegan burger, so you can try the best of Berlin’s plant-based food scene. And no German food tour would be complete without the country’s signature pastry: a salty pretzel.
DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF BERLIN’S FOOD
As you wander Berlin, listen to your guide’s insider knowledge on the city’s food scene. You’ll get local tips on the best cafes and restaurants! Just make sure to visit them later in your trip. Your guide will also explain the history of Berlin’s food. For example, that the modern street-food version of the döner kebab became famous in Berlin? Kadir Nurman first sold the dish in 1972 at a West Berlin train station. You’ll also learn about Berlin’s history more generally. After all, the Mitte district is in the central part of the city, where the Berlin Wall once divided East and West Berlin.
BITE INTO A SWEET TREAT
Near the end of the Berlin Food Tour, your final stop is dessert! We’ll visit a bakery filled with deliciously flaky pastries. These treats are filled with butter, and so well-crafted they rival Paris’s best bakeries. There’ll also be coffee available. After all, Germans are famous for ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ - literally, ‘coffee and cake’. It’s a social tradition where loved ones sit and talk for hours, accompanied by coffee and cake. We’ll also visit an artisanal ice cream shop, where sorbets and ice cream are made from scratch every day.
